Yelena Patskevich
Charcoal, pastel, watercolor and oil artist
Biography
Yelena Patskevich is a local Milwaukee artist, who specializes in pastel and water mixable oil paint. Yelena was born in Moscow and, by age 11, her talents were noticed by her art teacher, a professional artist. Since there was no art school near Yelena's home, the teacher began to personally tutor her. During this time, Yelena applied her skills and imagination to create a variety of paintings, and developed a life-long love for art.
After college, Yelena worked as a chemist and had two children, putting her career as an artist on hold. However, she still drew and painted at home during the little free time she had. Yelena arrived in Milwaukee in 2000 and brought her works with her to hang on the walls of her small apartment. Every time someone came through the house, they would inquire about her paintings, which were very memorable. Soon, family, friends and even strangers were offering to buy them and spread the word.
Yelena began to dedicate herself to painting full-time since 2007 and started getting recognition in Milwaukee, inspiring others with her art to this day. To Yelena, painting is more than a hobby; it’s a way of life, and her passion is visible in every brushstroke. Yelena had one exhibition in Moscow, five exhibitions in Milwaukee, two in Ohio and two in Chicago. She also offers art classes for kids. Despite selling many of her works, Yelena has given away many to people who were truly moved by them. You can see Yelena's art on her website: www.vpatskevic0.wixsite.com/yelena
